my two front teeth? No, not really, but the tune got me to thinking of what I do want for Christmas!
One of our favorite things to receive is a package. I L-O-V-E packages. WE love packages. My kids tear into them and get super excited and that makes it worth every cent you paid to send it here. I’ve often told friends it’s like the biggest hug you could give me across the ocean that separates us; however, when I look at the postage on that package, I cringe. I can hardly handle the fact that some of you spend $50, $75, or *GULP* $100 to send us stuff.
So although I love receiving packages and can hardly believe the lengths people will go to bless us, I don’t want a package this Christmas. What I really want, and what I think my kids would really appreciate this time, is a visit from a family member.
You see, we’ve been here for five years and although I understand it takes money and time to come visit us, the knowledge of that doesn’t make it any less of a want! What I wouldn’t give to take a family member to my favorite restaurant. To have that person walk into Jolie and Isaac’s school, maybe even ride their bus with them! To show them our streets, our neighborhood, the people we work with.
I want a family member to visit us, that’s what I want for Christmas!
So, help me, help them. Yup, that’s right. Instead of sending us a package, send me a family member. Just e-mail from this site and I’ll e-mail you back the details of how you can give!
I figure if most of you reading this would donate $25, $50, $100 towards the goal of $1500 (airfare, Visa, passport costs) then we could invite a family member to visit us at no cost to them. I know of several who would come in a heartbeat if the funds were available to them.
Get’s me excited just thinking about it.
Those of you who are incredibly practical and thinking ahead might be asking, “What if they don’t raise enough funds? Where does my money go then?”
Excellent question! We want to be good stewards of the funds that are given. If the money is not all raised up, then I’ll take whatever is deposited and put them towards helping the local poor here.
Give…generously. I promise to keep you updated!
**UPDATE: as of Jan. 15th, 2012 we currently raised $2345, we have enough for one full ticket and are working towards a second ticket!**
